Fear, an enemy or a friend?

What is fear? Why does fear exist? What is the purpose of fear?

Are you afraid of fear, experiencing fear or feeling fear?

In my teenage years I was constantly experiencing anxieties and fears, I did not know what to do and how. I did not know how to deal with it so I just stayed in this constant state of fear, barely living, often paralyzed by situations in life and overpowered by circumstances. I suffered but I had to tolerate my miserable life. At that time fear was my enemy.

Later in life I was told that I should learn as much as I can about everything that causes fear in me. Practicing this simple way of dealing with fear proved to be very successful. Soon I realized that fear is nothing more than a tool we all have in us which helps us to pinpoint all the things we need to learn in life. Fear shows us ahead of time all the areas we are ignorant about.

As soon as you start feeling anxieties or fear take a close look at yourself, analyze what causes the fear, ask yourself what are you afraid of and why. All the answers will show you the path you have to follow and will name the thing or things you need to research, learn, become aware of. Do it and you will be free from that fear.

Fear makes sure that we learn what’s needed for us to make a progress in life but that learning is not always about acquiring a new skill; it is often about learning more and deeper about yourself.

Accept fear, accept its help and use it. Be conscious of and in the process. When you know the nature of fear it becomes your friend and no longer scares you, it becomes just an informational tool for you. To be afraid means not having knowledge about that what causes the fear. It is simple as that.
